Who is Chris Crawford?

Chris is a computer game designer and writer. In 1992 he abandoned commercial game development to experiment with interactive storytelling.

His interactive storytelling journey has had its ups and downs.

Patrick Dugan’s chronicled Chris’ place in the game universe in Understanding Crawford.

It was clear, during Crawford’s period as a game developer, that he was an auteur operating at the top of his form, not always creating commercially successful products, but always pressing at the edges of the possible, always advancing the state of the art. He was an inspiration.

I have to agree with Patrick’s assessment. Chris has thought long and hard about interactive storytelling and his approach inspired me to spend two years working with his Storytron technology and join the team working on Siboot 2.0.

Erasmatazz is Chris’ personal site.
